Beekeeping 101 with Andrew — Thursday, March 19 at 10:00 AM
Step into the world of honeybees with Beekeeping 101, a hands-on introductory workshop led by Andrew Harbison of Suwannee Farms Inc, the beekeeper who helps care for our very own Hearthstone Hives. Whether you’re brand new to beekeeping or simply fascinated by these remarkable pollinators, this workshop offers an inviting and accessible starting point.
Andrew will guide participants through the essentials of responsible beekeeping, including:
How a hive is structured and who does what inside
Basic equipment and safety practices
Seasonal hive care and what to expect throughout the year
Ways to support pollinators at home
You’ll also get an up-close look at the Hearthstone Hives, where Andrew will demonstrate real-world hive behavior and best practices.
Important Safety Note
If you have a bee veil or bee suit, please bring it with you. Protective gear is required for anyone who wishes to enter the bee enclosure. We will have a limited number of extra bee veils available, but there is no guarantee we will have enough for the entire group. Bringing your own gear ensures you can fully participate in the hive portion of the workshop.
This workshop is ideal for gardeners, nature lovers, aspiring beekeepers, and anyone curious about the buzzing heart of our ecosystem.
