Meet Bob Hoffman
If you’ve spent any time around Hearthstone, chances are you’ve met Bob Hoffman — and if you haven’t, you’ve definitely seen the impact of his hard work. Bob is 90 years young, full of life, and one of the biggest cheerleaders for everything happening at the Gardens.
Bob moved to Lake City from the New York/New Jersey area 22 years ago, but his roots go all the way back to Brooklyn. He started his career in aviation, later shifted into information technology, and eventually retired as an IT Director. Somewhere along the way (about 60 years ago), he discovered gardening, a passion he and his wife still share.
A friend first brought Bob to Hearthstone when it was just getting started, and it was love at first sight. He’s been volunteering ever since and has proudly served as our Board Vice President for more than eight years.
Bob has watched the Gardens grow from a small patch of land into the thriving space it is today, and he’s proud to have been part of that journey.
In Bob’s own words: “All the volunteers are great, and working at the Gardens brings me a sense of peace.”
We’re grateful every day for his energy, dedication, and heart.
We’re so grateful for our volunteers and always excited to welcome new ones.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to be part of this,” consider this your invitation. There’s always something simple to lend a hand with, from watering and weeding to tidying beds, light pruning, greenhouse tasks, or refreshing birdbaths. No experience needed. Just bring your love of nature and whatever time you can spare. Even an hour makes a meaningful difference.
